Night Shift – Awake Residential Night Worker

Qualifications

  • A minimum 2-year relevant diploma, or equivalent of education/experience working with children and youth with behavioural and complex needs. Life and parenting experience an asset but not required. Previous experience in a staffed residential setting is a major asset.
  • Specific training in behavioural modification, children under 12 years of age with support needs, attachment-based parenting, and relationship-based interventions (Training will be provided by Cloverville SHSS).
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a First Aid / CPR Level C Certification.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License & Driver’s abstract required (use of company car provided).
  • Basic computer and data entry skills required.
  • Must be in good health and be able to provide a fit-to-work certificate from a doctor.
  • Must successfully pass background check (conducted by Cloverville SHSS).
  • Must have patience and a passion caring for children and youth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English required.

Duties and Expectations

  • Monitors children and youth through the night and attends to any medical, behavioural, emotional or other needs that arise at night.
  • Follows through on direction regarding specific children and youth left by the day staff.
  • Appropriately delivers or enables Strategies established in children’s and youth’s SHSS Service Plan.
  • Supports children and youth with their morning and evening routines at the beginning and end of the shift.
  • Prepares and assists children and youth in breakfast preparation.
  • Ensures that children’s and youth’s physical needs are met by performing duties such as assisting with basic personal hygiene and administering medications as required in accordance with established policy, guidelines, procedures and instructions.
  • Ensures that children and youth follow house rules. Monitors curfew regulations and reports to appropriate authorities as required.
  • Ensures that logbooks and other documentation are maintained such as logbooks, charts, daily activities on residents, statistics, incident reports etc.
  • Performs light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, emptying garbage, cleaning and laundry. Reports maintenance needs to the Residence Coordinator.
  • Secures the Care Setting by arming alarms and locking doors and windows.
  • Notifies Residence Coordinator or Program Manager of any major problems or emergencies. Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.

  • Wage rate starts at $27.54 and increases up to $31.61 as you accumulate hours

Other Important Details

  • Full-time Available Position: Awake Night Shift – 11:00PM to 7:00AM (Wednesday to Saturday)
  • Part-time Available Position: Awake Night Shift – 11:00PM to 7:00AM (Sunday to Tuesday)
  • Workplace Location: Abbotsford B.C. (near Rotary Stadium)
  • The employment start date will be finalized by early June with a projected start in the 2nd– 3rd week of June 2025.
